2019 Events

Here are the upcoming events for our 2019 season:

We are proud to announce that Nicole Kempf has been approved to work here in the USA! She will be coming to Montaire in Middleburg, VA to train trainers and students eager to learn about the our magnificent horse breed: The Icelandic horse. If you don’t know Nicole Kempf here are her International qualifications to inspire you as they have inspired us:

1992 Certification IPZV-Trainer B, Germany
1995 Certification IPZV sports judge, Germany
1995 Certification Icelandic FT trainer, Iceland
1996 Certification IPZV Trainer A, Germany
2000 Certification Icelandic Gæðingakeppni judge, Iceland
2006 Certification IPZV breeding judge, Germany
2008 Appointed by the German IPZV to be an Ausbilder (a trainer who educates other trainers)

2011 Certification FEIF International Sports Judge

March 19-22, 2019 at Taktur farm in prospect, kentucky

  • Consultations with advanced U.S. icelandic horse trainers regarding the standard-setting German Icelandic horse education and certification system and steps necessary in the U.S. to flesh out its own certification programs for teachers and trainers.

Individual and group demonstrations, lectures and lessons leading to qualifying standards for German certification in teaching and riding the icelandic horse.

Introductory clinic for young riders wishing to become professional icelandic horse riders, trainers, and teachers.

March 23-26, 2019 at Montaire Icelandic horse farm, Middleburg, VA

  • Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 4 Gaited

  • Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 5 Gaited

  • Training of the Young Icelandic Horse

  • Individual Lessons: Ground Training Programs for Icelandic Horses

  • Individual Riding Lessons:  Making the Transition from 3-gaited to 4- and 5-gaited horses.  What stays the same and what is different.  These lessons are specifically designed to riders new to Icelandic horses.

  • Individual Riding Lessons:  Preparing for Icelandic Horse Show Competitions.

  • Training of the Young Icelandic Horse

  • Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 4 Gaited

  • Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 5 Gaited

  • Individual Lessons: Ground Training Programs for Icelandic Horses

    2. Judging Conformation and Breed Characteristics of the Icelandic Horse. 

    3. Continued Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 4 Gaited

    4. Continued Training the Advanced Icelandic Horse – 5 Gaited

    5. Individual Riding Lessons:  Preparing for Icelandic Horse Show Competitions.

    6. Lectures and Demonstrations:  Understanding the Requirements of Icelandic Horse Competition.  

      October 26-27, 2019  Annual Frida Icelandic Riding Club Sanctioned Show at Montaire Icelandic Horse Farm

    7. Consultations with Frida Board of Directors regarding overall show design, understanding and applying FEIF regulations, training of show volunteers, secretaries, Icetest, scribes; liaising with European and U.S. show officials.

    8. Ongoing coaching to individual riders entered in the Show.

October 28-29, 2019 at Montaire Icelandic horse farm in middleburg, VA

Teaching and certifying US Icelandic horse trainers for the IPZV trainer’s license that can’t go to Germany.
